Greetings!

It’s time for the Big Dance! For those of us who love college basketball, March is our favorite month. Conference tournaments then the national tournament leading down to the Final Four. That said, I’ve been thinking of a dance in another way. Dance of the ballroom sort.

In this month’s feature article, you can learn how the tango turns out to be a great metaphor for personal growth and leadership. You can also catch a clip of Argentine Tango at its finest. It’s all about carrying your own weight, staying in balance, leading, following and knowing where you’re going. Combined, it leads to great performance. Intrigued? View the clip and read the article, It Takes Two to Tango, below.

This month we’re also announcing some changes to our teleclasses. First, we’ve received requests for different days and times. To accommodate your schedules, we’re now offering classes during the daytime for Eastern time zones and on weekends. We’ve also changed conferencing companies to a service that offers greater flexibility and more options. Finally, we’ve been getting more and more requests for coaching on building sales through eMarketing.

To help meet this need, we’re offering a four week teleclass called Building your Buzz on permission marketing that covers creating websites, blogs, and eZines/newsletters. There’ll be two free sneak peek classes for Building your Buzz during the month of March that will give a full intro to the course plus a chance for Q&A. To learn about all of the class offerings for March, click on the “Teleclasses” link on the left of this email (or scroll down).

I want to thank everyone who has responded to Forty Days Forward. I’ve received many emails and the program is sparking great conversations. The program continues through March and into April as we move from reflection into planning, letting go, and giving. You’re invited to join (or continue) this journey into your best life. And don’t forget, there are many options for participating. To learn more, click here.

The month of March is sometimes characterized as “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” That’s because weather-wise, March marks the transition between seasons. The last fierce winter storms blow across the northern hemisphere, soon to be replaced by sunny warm days. It’s also the time when migrating birds start to get zugunruhe, the restlessness that precedes migration. At Zugunruhe Coaching, we’re getting some migratory restlessness of our own. Changes are in the works that will bring new personnel and offerings to you. Stay tuned for details coming soon. In the meantime, I hope that the transitions of life and seasons are kind to you.

Peace in your days,
Tara

What dancing can teach you about leadership and life

Humans love dancing. Dance figures heavily in culture and ritual throughout human history. Even when you’re not good at dancing, it’s still fun. Watching people dance is a popular thing to do, as any fan of Dancing with the Stars can attest.

In ballroom dance, there’s a very short feedback loop. You get internal feedback (how you feel and where you are in space) and external feedback (how the other person responds to you or getting your toes stepped on). If your form is not solid, no one can dance with you, literally or figuratively. Take a look at this video clip. Here, you’ll see two people possessing excellent form who are completely in tune with each other (the really fancy footwork starts around 1 minute, 50 seconds into the clip). Leadership is much like the tango....

  • Sift through multiple demands and busyness to create time and space for what is most important to you
  • Listen for your inner voice and identify what is individually sacred
  • Create space and time in everyday life to honor yourself as beloved and to recognize and respect that which is sacred in and to you

 Selling without Cold Calls
Build your Buzz on the web

When lots of people know and like you, selling is easy. There’s no cold calling. Instead, sales come to you by referral or based on your past performance. But how do you build those kinds of relationships in today’s information-flooded, fast-paced market?

One way is by building a web presence that allows your potential customers to meet and get to know you in advance. When you establish rapport with visitors to your websites, contacts pre-qualify themselves and start coming to you, allowing you to do what you do best: sell.

Building your Buzz: Harnessing the power of permission and service marketing is a four week class that will set you on the path to building a solid virtual presence for you and your business. You’ll learn:
  • the steps of creating a website from domain names to going live on the web.
  • how and why to create a blog to market your business and yourself.
  • the ins-and-outs of permission based marketing using eZines and newsletters.
  • finding your creative voice to get good copy for your website, blog, and newsletter.
You’ll have multiple ways to learn the material from hand-outs for every class, packed with resources and information, to on-line discussions that you can participate in at any time of the day or night. Every week, you’ll get a full hour of instruction from a professor who not only knows the material but uses every day.

You’ll also receive individual attention in the form of full hour of coaching, one entire personal session, focused on your building your personal strategy and plans to execute what you’ve learned. At the end of the four week course, you’ll walk away with a plan, your plan, with all the steps filled in, arm loads of resources, and the knowledge to build your buzz and starting drawing customers to you.

The course begins on Sunday, April 15, 2007 and ends on Sunday, May 6. The lectures will be delivered weekly at 7 pm Eastern (4 pm Pacific) via teleconference bridgeline so that anyone, anywhere, may attend. Access to the internet is required to carry out in-class and out of class exercises. No fancy software needed, any (current) internet browser will do.

The cost of the course is just $59. Class size is limited.
