Greetings!

My dad has a saying: “Dates on the calendar are always closer than they appear.” Wow, was he right! How did it get to be November already?!? The little ghosts and goblins are gone and the holidays are right around the corner. Lots of people find the next two months to be the most stressful of the year.

If you’re dreading the holidays because of all the calories that await you, maybe you’d like to take a look a short film called Evolution. This is a fascinating take on the images women may be comparing themselves with (me included). On the other hand, a new eye-opening study shows that eating too much can age us faster than we realized. How about that for some incentive to pass up your extra helping of dressing and gravy?

As you look forward to the holiday that invites you to count your blessings and reconnect with family and friends, I invite you to drop me a line. What are you most thankful for? If you need a little inspiration, surf over to Three Beautiful Things. If Jane Austin had a blog, it would sound like Clare’s lovely and very English diary. This November, I am thankful for you, dear Reader, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Peace be with you,
Tara

 Resilience in Action

One of my goals for Zugunruhe Blog is to highlight stories of people who have overcome obstacles to reach their dreams. To get things kicked off, I interviewed Dave Dahl. Dave's story came to me via the label on a loaf of his delicious bread. He's not only a talented baker, but an incredible person who can teach all of us an important lesson in resilience.

 Get Out the Vote!

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
--Margaret Mead

November 7 is the first Tuesday of the month. In the US, it's also Election Day. Celebrate the disappearance of all those annoying political ads by casting your vote.

 National Novel Writing Month
 Got November? Write a Novel!

Those of you who know me well know that I am toiling away on a novel. If you’ve ever considered writing one too, now’s the time! As a writer, I’ve learned that motivation and inspiration trot right behind action. A nice deadline and a little competitive streak never hurt either! I’m using the NaNoWriMo challenge to propel me to finish the first draft of my first novel. What can it do for you? Take the challenge and find out! And if you’re feeling stuck, don’t forget that I’m offering another Writer’s Block Busting class this month. Log on for details here.
